well i am more concerned on portability as the first factor den battery. So how is battery for this p990, for the dup-pod is pretty ok (of cos no calls are made to and from the unit, a bit stupid right cos all the user complain is a bloody brick hehehehe) price wise is as high as the p990 for the unit they are using.

My guess is that you are comparing the P990 to the Dopod 900. For a better comparison, it should be SE P990 vs Dopod 838 Pro. They are similar in size and price. Direct Push Email only works with GPRS/3G, not over WiFi. Not sure whether phones can "downgrade" to use only GPRS but then again power savings between GPRS and 3G could be negligible. 3G will be better when you need to download attachments.

OMG... Hmmm... I am really concern about this statement:

""Poor GSM reception (At least for M1 and Starhub networks tested)""

It is really strange... cos how come no one is concern about this? Hi joe, can you elaborate a little how bad the reception is on the test P990i? I am facing very bad GSM reception issues on 5 M600i retail sets all using Singtel 3G SIM Cards Sad

As this is a trial phone, I cannot be certain if this problem will exist in the actual commercial sets.
Yup, I have heard of the very bad GSM reception issue with M600i.

As for the GSM reception. I did notice that even for previous SE phones, I sometimes got disconnection in MRT when it is underground. While it didnt happen on my Nokia, Ericsson and Phillips phones. However, may still be due to network cos I have seen people using other brands having similar problem (u see them yelling Hello to the phone and then stopped conversation)....

yup, tested the IPSEC support which works fine. however the problem of not being able to associate with APs which has SSID broadcasts turned off even after keying in all the right settings is going to be a problem.

T68/T68i/K700/K750/W900/W800/P800/P900/P910 leh. just hope that this is a precommercial unit and the problem does not exist when i get my actual set.

I remember reading once before that Telcos actually need to tune their cellular network for each new phone that enters the market.  I did experience this poor reception problem when the P910i first came out and after a few weeks, the problem disappeared.  Perhaps, our local Telcos are still tweaking their systems for M600 and P990.

Any comms engineer want to provide more info on such a thing, if any?
