i want to start this new thread under the uiq3 category
as there are currently probably less than 100 uiq3 games and apps
and not so easy to find

members who post on this thread should
1 have a full app or game running on their uiq3 device
2 post an image of the game or app
3 post a link

it is ok to have several posts of the same game or apps
long or short reviews
and i hope
will generate a lot of questions and discussions

on my part, i will post many reviews
as i have about installed many fully registered uiq3 games and apps
on my se m600i

i cant help feeling how good it is
to have a secure uiq3 program like handy safe
where i can keep all my credit card, passport
and bank account numbers

the app starts by asking for a password
looks like a cubb safe
sure eludes lots of secure confidence

there are tons of readymade forms
so there is no need to create your own
although that is also possible

even on the readymade forms
it is easy to add or remove entries

it's a 'must have' app for the m600i
or whatever device you have

everyone likes freeware
gary, author of the freeware sudoX
a sudoku game (get the latest version; the first version is buggy)
has released, TimeBlob - a simple digital clock display;
the clock can be positioned anywhere on the screen.
The background can be set to anything between opaque and transparent.

actually quite useful
look below - my homepage

now look again, a nice clock on the top menu bar

get it from
http://my-symbian.com/uiq3/software/applications.php?fldAuto=68&faq=7
that's

here is another great arcade game
that plays as good as it looks
another ball by epocware is a uiq3 apps
but started as a palm app a long time ago

although another brick breaker,
it stands out amongst the clone for

1. having an uncluttered background
- so it is easy to spot the ball
2. absence of invading aliens/objects from the top
- so nothing to distract your concentration
3. the ever-present red hot, burning fire bricks
- that ignites the neighbouring ones

although the stylus plays well
i prefer the keypad for more precise play

if you like breaking bricks
you will like another ball
as it is superbreakout on steroids
with all the bells and whistles

get it from epocware
http://www.epocware.com/SE_M600i/Another_Ball.html

here's more info from the site

Another Ball features

33 different levels
Nice graphics
Special sound effects
Top scores list
Exciting action with 17 unique bonus items
5 kinds of bricks in hi-color graphics

Another Ball game-play

The object of “Another Ball” game for Sony Ericsson M600i/W950
is to get as many scores as possible.

You should move the platform to reflect the ball.
The ball brings down the blocks.
Tap the screen to start the ball in the beginning of the game.
You can rule the platform by stylus and by device hardware buttons.
During the game you can catch falling bonuses with the platform.
You will go to the next level if you bring down all blocks
(except the steel one).
If the ball falls down by the platform you will lose one life.
You will get an additional life if you earn 10 000 points.
You will see your score in the left top corner of the screen
and the number of “lives” in the right top corner.

Here's a simple story and easy-to-learn gameplay
that ends up in complete psychological addiction!

the best way to
enjoy tile matching games like mahjongg
is with a stylus
where you can go directly to tap on the tile
instead of moving all over the place with a joysrick or keypad

here's an exquisite 3-d version by klaar

the graphics are awesome looking
you can zoom in and out
(great when less tiles are left)
or swing them afround
which adds immensely to the enjoyment of the game

the game comes with one tileset, 7 layouts and 2 backgrounds
but you can purchase
the Mahjongg Deluxe 3D expansion pack
which comes with an astounding 47 new layouts
(ranging form easy to challenging)
2 new tilesets (one easy and one authentic)
3 extra new backgrounds

My fav uiq3 site has these additional info
http://www.symbiangear.com/product.html?pid=20066,20071,106609

Features:
Beautiful and fast 3D
2D mode for fast overview
Easy and intuitive interface
Completely Extendable
Reads popular Kyodai Layoutfiles
Zoom
Layout preview option (v2.0)
Best times per board (v2.0)
Improved interface and gameplay(v2.0)
Extra 3D effects(v2.0)
Languages included: English, Deutsch, Francais, Espagnol, Italiano(v2.0)

Agreed that this is a great time display app. Unfortunately there are 2 problems:

1. When Not Enough Memory is encountered, it will be closed.
2. The most impotant one, it may be out-of-sync with system clock because I believe that this app sync with the system clock on an interval basis and there may be time when the timeblob is out of sync by up to 15sec. Sad

Hope they can come out with an improved version.

Just curious, does anyone knows if the developer can put a DO NOT SHUT ME DOWN kind of an option in their app so that the system will not shut it down when they run out of memory?

yeah,
also when you reboot your device
eg take out the battery
you have to restart timeblob

still, good to have around
btw gary is very good in implementing feedback

there are some people who comment (with a little pride)
'i just use my xxx for work; i dont play games'
xxx may be computer, notebook, pda or phone

i suspect these people think of gaming as counter-strike stuff
and forget that there are classic games like mahjongg and sudoku
that keeps people from 6 to 106 alert, fun and entertained

3d mahjongg by klaar is such a game
taking a proven classic
it is weaved in true 3d fashion
somuchso you can tilt it any which way you want
zoom it in or out, at will

the original tiles are really nice
lookie below

so i really had a good time with this superb rendering
of one of my favorite mobile game
animation and all

then i got the expansion pak
installed it immediately
and it knocked my socks off

as good as the original tiles were
the authentic tileset is really stunning
lookie below - doesnt it make your eyes pop out?

in the expansion pak are 3 extra new backgrounds
these are some of the best graphics i have seen on the m600i
and gives mahjongg the oriental setting

for those who are not familar with chinese tilesets, esp kids
there is another tileset, simple with brightly coloured letters and numbers

if that is not enough, over 40 more layouts are included
in this expansion pak
which installs into your previous mahjongg directory
(much like a windows uypdate)

imho software like this
thoughtfully and skillfully crafted
then enhanced by expansion paks
is worth their weight in gold

if only there are more of these around
mobile gaming would really have a broad appeal
and carrying just a few of these quality stuff
would be better than a bunch of hurriedly released, 'more of the same' genre

btw this sucker reads the popular pc kyodai mahjongg layoutfiles
games dont get any better than this

available at symbian-gear, my-symbian and handango
anybody else know of good uiq3 vendors?
thanks

megasoft200 changed the bowling game
when they released the palm version of bowling
it is so intuitive
just draw on the screen
drag it towards the pins...

as you can see
the simplicity and uncluttered layout is there
but the uiq3 version offers more... much more

There are 3 different plays
i like the Stroke and Arcade
as they let the stylus do the work
- the fun is doubled especially when playing with a friend
or challenging a kid

Swing is good on a long trip
when all you want to do is to press buttons

bowling is good for a quick blast
and great if you want to overtake your high score
this will always be amongst my favorites

more info from symbiangear
http://www.symbiangear.com/product.html?pid=20066,20080,97920

Application Description
The Bowling game is similar to one of the most popular and classical games - Bowling! Different in their functions modes (Stroke, Arcade and Swing) enable you to enjoy the true physical laws when throwing the ball or just rest, while checking keenness of your vision and excellence of your response.

Benefits:

In Stroke mode, complete imitation of real-life model
Arcade mode for the quality pass-time
Excellent digital sound effects
User-friendly High Score table for all modes.

>>>> the No. 1 uiq3 app: handy tools <<<<

a pda phone owner, unlike any phone owner
wants to take control over the layout, configurations etc

take for instance, the built-in today
rather plain jane and reduntant, i think

ta-da...
with handy day, what a difference
appointments perferences
tasks (whether to show untimed ones)
shortcut to favorites... nice

the beauty of handy day by epocware
is the pure simplicity and intuitive way it works
so that it flows seamlessly in your hands

so if you want to go deeper than i have (above)
you can milk it for all the juices (below)

ever since i used it with my se p910i
there can be no other 'today' app for me
just one foxy well crafted app
- if there is only one program you want to buy
it has to be handy day
- when will sony ericsson wise up
and start including this in their future releases?

surely a 5-star app in my book

here's additional info from symbiangear.com
http://www.symbiangear.com/product.html?pid=20039,20045,92036

Application Description
Handy Day for UIQ 3.0 is your personal assistant that always with you. Day view and Week view gives you overview of your appointments and tasks on a day or a week. Favorites view provides you quick and convenient access to applications, files and contacts.

You will never forget about daily appointments and tasks using Handy Day software. View information from Calendar and Tasks. Move between Day view screens for different days using Jog Dial.

Take a look on your appointments and tasks for all 7 days the current week. Have overview of your agenda and tasks for several days at a glance with Week View.

Turn your smartphone’s screen into Desktop with Favorites. Place on it shortcuts to applications, files, URLs, contacts, and even calls and SMS.

Make your smartphone’s usability more convenient: Create new items quicker in the main applications: Call, SMS, MMS, E-mail, Contact, Task, and etc due to New Menu. Manage your phone connections (Bluetooth, Infrared, WLAN, USB).

mobile-stream is a rising star in uiq3 gaming
http://www.mobile-stream.com/uiqgames.html
they have just released a uiq3 dreamway

i have already played dreamway on my Palm Zod
- it is a big game, in fact the biggest uiq3 game i've got on my m600i
but lots of fun and full uiq3 features
and the console feeling on a mobile

as you can guess from the the screenshot above
it is a top-down racer
that looks very nice in its cartoon type graphics

the feature i like most is the auto forward
much like the rapid fire
as it is one less button to press
especially for mobile phones

the game plays flawlessly on the m600i
and it is easy to customize the keys
if you do not like the default ones

you can get it from
http://www.mobile-stream.com/uiqgames.html

Dreamway features taken from the above site:
7 stunning tracks to race on,
- including Bank Plaza, Miracle Forest, Asteroids, etc.;
3 difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, Hard;
12 bonuses, including punishing thunderbolt, temporator, and spike shield;
7 original cars of individual tech specs;
Customizable button controls and easy stylus input;
Advanced options and tune ups;
Record logbook, highscores and enclyclopedia of bonuses;
Enhanced widescreen support
- graphics is specially tuned for every screen resolution
(176x208, 352x416, 240x320, 208x320, 320x240, 640x320);
English, German, French and Russian languages support.
