i was looking for gifts this holiday season
when i thought a portable photo printer
will bring joy and delight throughout the year

i started with the lousy $99 fuji thingy featured in tue's digital life
photo printouts remind me of my old polaroid camera
really bad

i looked at sony's
but decided on the new canon selphy es1
because of the easy cartridge loading
cheap consumables (30 cents each)
and brilliant dye subimation printing
(better than colour laser)

this portable printer retailed at $399
but check out alan photo at sim lim ground floor for the best prices

30 cents. Basically you take the cost of the ink ribbon and the paper divide by the number of paper. The ribbonn is sold together with the paper so you will not run out of paper or ink and have supplus of the other because the ribbon can only print a fixed number of photos.

most photo printers including sony
requires you to load a tray

this is really a turn off
so flimsy and unneccessary

this is best for 3r
although the built-in sofware could be better

although the es2 software has improved
it cant read many types of jpg
esp those that you modify with photoshop

it comes with a free ulead software
but cannot install unless you attach to printer
with a cable that they dont sell
nor come with the set

methinks asian manufacturers only concentrate on hardware
no idea about software   yawn
